Job summary

PETA is seeking a Strategic Initiatives Coordinator to develop and coordinate special projects, including multimedia initiatives and local legislative efforts, advancing animal liberation. You will work closely with the President and Manager of Strategic Initiatives to drive campaigns and public impact.

The role requires proactive organization, strong communication, and a commitment to PETA's mission. Expected travel to city council meetings and events may be involved.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • One year of demonstrated experience independently planning and executing initiatives.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal professional communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of animal liberation issues and PETA campaigns.
  • Demonstrated superior organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Proven effective research abilities.
  • Proven ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate problems, identify opportunities, and take an active approach to responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel on assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the President and Manager of Strategic Initiatives on a range of projects to further animal rights
  • Support the introduction and passage of boundary-pushing animal rights legislation
  • Develop and coordinate multimedia projects and other outreach projects for PETA's campaigns, working in collaboration with other departments
  • Conduct research on a wide range of topics
  • Draft letters and other written materials to support legislative projects, multimedia projects, and other strategic initiatives
  • Develop, execute, and assist with initiatives to push campaigns into the media spotlight and the public consciousness
  • Attend events and protests as needed
  • Travel to attend and speak at city council meetings as needed
  • Interact professionally and diplomatically with activists, donors, corporate contacts, elected officials, and others
  • Professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the President or Manager of Strategic Initiatives
