Job summary

PETA in the United States is seeking a Manager, Social Media Strategy and Special Projects to develop bold, culturally relevant social campaigns, and to lead innovative projects that engage new audiences and drive action for animals.

You’ll stay ahead of internet culture, write compelling copy, brief creators, and collaborate with audio/visual teams and outside agencies to execute timely, high-impact content across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years of relevant social media, digital marketing, or related experience.
• Proven experience developing and executing creative social media strategies and campaigns.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and manage complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of major social media platforms and online trends.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with agencies, production teams, or vendors.
• Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion.
• Understanding of animal rights issues and PETA campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Develop bold social media concepts and strategies aimed at younger audiences.
• Stay immersed in culture and trends to identify timely opportunities for PETA.
• Lead turning brainstorms into actionable projects and drive them to completion.
• Collaborate with Audio/Visual teams to create social-first video concepts.
• Brief, guide, and assess external agencies to ensure innovative, on-brand output.
• Write, edit, and review social media copy optimized for each platform.
• Monitor performance and use insights to inform future strategies.
• Manage multiple fast-moving projects with minimal supervision.
