Job summary

First 5 Sonoma County seeks a Research & Evaluation Manager to lead data collection, analysis and reporting on program impact for children aged 0 to 5. You will work with staff, leadership and external consultants to ensure rigorous evaluation, compliance and confidentiality, and to communicate findings to the Commission and partners.

You will oversee data systems, guide evaluation plans, and support partners with data collection and reporting.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree preferred: MPH, MEd, MA, PhD.
• Strong background and demonstrated expertise in research and evaluation in social services, education or health.
• Experience in early childhood development content (0–5) and related fields.
• Understanding and addressing racial disparities in health and education outcomes.
• Excellent writing skills and ability to present data clearly.
• Ability to develop reports and presentations using data visualization.
• Ability to center racial equity across the data lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with program staff, partners, consultants and Evaluation Committee to monitor implementation and outcomes.
• Collect information for and complete annual reporting to state authorities.
• Monitor contractor deliverables and support program teams.
• Procure external consultants and design evaluation frameworks and measures.
• Monitor community-level data on children’s well-being and share findings with stakeholders.
• Facilitate community engagement processes to inform investments and design.
• Develop and maintain evaluation databases and data collection tools.
• Provide training to funded partners on data collection and reporting for evaluation.
• Monitor program performance against objectives and propose improvements.
• Develop Annual Community Report using evaluation data to tell the story of impact.
• Prepare reports and literature reviews for leadership and conferences.
• Other duties as assigned.
