Job summary

Selby Jennings is assisting a DMV-based private investment firm in hiring a Private Equity Associate in 2027. The role offers exposure to lower‑middle market opportunities across business services, industrials, and consumer healthcare, with meaningful responsibility on a lean deal team.

You will work closely with senior decision makers on the full investment life cycle, including research, modeling, due diligence, and portfolio company value‑creation initiatives.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of investment banking and/or management consulting experience.
• Strong analytical, financial modeling, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple work streams in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research, market analysis, and financial modeling to support the investment process.
• Support due-diligence work streams, coordinate with external advisors, and prepare investment committee materials.
• Build and refine operating models, valuation frameworks, and return analyses to support transaction decisions.
• Partner with portfolio company leadership teams on performance tracking, strategic initiatives, and value-creation projects.
• Contribute to a collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves culture aligned with the firm's growth-oriented investment philosophy.
