The Innocence Project is seeking Post-Conviction Litigation Fellows to reinvestigate and litigate actual innocence claims nationwide. Fellows work with attorneys on cases involving ineffective assistance of counsel, prosecutorial misconduct, false evidence, and new DNA testing, with involvement in all litigation stages.

The position is a fully funded two-year fellowship with a hybrid in-office model; 40 hours per week, some evenings/weekends, and travel to visit clients or appear in court as

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school prior to start date.
• Admitted to state bar or awaiting results; or prepared to sit for next scheduled bar exam.
• Demonstrated interest in indigent defense, racial justice, and innocence work.
• Strong legal research and persuasive writing skills.
• Strong oral advocacy skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsabilités

• Assist in drafting litigation strategy.
• Assist in post-conviction factual reinvestigations.
• Write motions & briefs in connection with client representation, including motions for access to DNA testing and motions for relief from conviction.
• Conduct legal research.
• Communicate with clients and family members regarding cases.
• Prepare for and participate in evidentiary hearings.
