Job summary
The State of South Carolina’s S.C. Legislative Audit Council seeks performance auditors to conduct management and performance audits of state agencies in compliance with Government Auditing Standards.
Staff work on interdisciplinary audit teams to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of government programs using quantitative and qualitative analysis. Auditors investigate operations, interview staff and officials, develop data collection methods, and assist in planning and writing audits within
Qualifications
- Requires a master’s degree or a law degree or CPA license.
- Demonstrates strong research, analytical, communication and investigative skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work in a team environment with time management capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Investigate state government operations to identify policy and program improvements.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of agency records and interview staff and officials.
- Develop methods to obtain required data for audits.
- Assist supervisors in planning, conducting and writing audits within established timelines.
- Prepare concise reports and present results to state officials, committees, media and citizens.
