Job summary

Environment New York is seeking a Conservation Advocate to conserve and protect our special places, wildlife and clean water. You will lead coalitions, organize events, and advocate with decision-makers at the state, regional and federal levels.

The role requires at least 2 years of relevant experience, excellent writing and public speaking skills, and willingness to travel; evenings and weekends may be required. Strong strategic thinking and fundraising abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

• An advocate or organizer with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent writing and public speaking skills.
• Ability to travel regularly and work evenings and weekends.
• Creative and strategic thinker with problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Build coalitions across organizations to support goals.
• Organize webinars, community events and public meetings; recruit volunteers.
• Earn traditional and social media attention and build an online presence.
• Advocate with state, regional and federal decision-makers; lobby and testify where appropriate.
• Help shape program priorities through policy development and messaging.
• Fundraise: write grants and engage donors to support campaigns.
• Grow the team by recruiting strong candidates and supervising interns.
