Job summary

Community Economic Defense Project seeks a dedicated Certified Housing Counselor/Resource Navigator to join our Durango team. This HUD-certified role focuses on eviction prevention, budgeting, resource navigation, and homebuyer education within a hybrid work model.

The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish), organized, and experienced with CRM/CMS systems to serve diverse populations and coordinate with housing agencies and social-service partners in Colorado.

Qualifications

• HUD-Approved Housing Counselor certification is required; candidates may be hired with mortgage lending background if certification obtained within 60 days.
• Hybrid role with 3–5 days/week in the Durango office.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
• Experience in advocacy, customer service, social services, or law-related environment.
• Ability to navigate CRM and CMS databases and tools.

Responsibilities

• Housing Counseling in HUD-approved program focusing on eviction prevention, homelessness, foreclosure prevention, and pre-purchase counseling.
• Engage with mortgage providers, real estate agents, HOAs, landlords, and community resource referrals for clients.
• Maintain up-to-date records in the Housing Counseling CMS and manage caseload calendars.
• Develop relationships with housing agencies and community organizations across Colorado, especially Durango.
• Coordinate with internal teams to help clients access services and referrals.
