Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas is seeking a Marketing Communications Coordinator to support fundraising campaigns, housing, health and human services programs, and donor engagement. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing.
• 1–3 years of experience in a professional office setting, preferably nonprofit.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Suite and Wordpress.
• Strong writing, editing and proofing skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Experience with graphic design preferred.
• Experience capturing and editing video preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills with an outgoing and open personal style.
• Ability to travel when necessary to interview program consumers and staff for testimonials.

Responsibilities

• Implement communications strategies that promote VOACC’s fundraising campaigns, events and donor engagement.
• Manage VOACC’s monthly e-newsletter and social media presence for an external audience of donors and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with VOACC’s external vendors to create digital and printed marketing collateral.
• Efficiently manage and publish updates to VOACC’s website, ensuring content is accurate, up-to-date, and engaging.
• Analyze various media markets to identify key reporters and influencers, targeting them for media outreach efforts to maximize VOACC's exposure and impact.
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate logistics planning, ensuring smooth execution of projects and events.
• Liaise with VOACC program staff to identify, gather and write consumer stories that demonstrate VOACC’s impact.
• Measure and report on the effectiveness of communications activities, engagement levels, and progress.
• Occasionally capture video and photography of VOACC’s consumers and staff as needed.
• Occasionally craft compelling press releases and other articles.
• Other duties as assigned.
