Job summary

Sonic Healthcare USA in Dallas, TX is hiring a Histology Technician to join our clinical laboratory team. You will prepare slides for immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization and immunofluorescence, using manual methods and automation as required, while upholding safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a BS in biology or related sciences, at least 2 years of histology experience with IHC training, and ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.

• ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare slides for IHC/ISH and immunofluorescence, manually and with automation.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot processing, embedding, cutting and staining as needed.
• Work in a fast-paced lab with biological and chemical hazards.
• Champion safety, compliance and quality control.

Job Duties:

• Perform a vital part of the patient care process from preparing slides for Immunohistochemistry, In Situ Hybridization and Immunofluorescence. and IHC/ISH special stain procedures both manually and with automation.
• Performs and documents scheduled preventative maintenance
• Recognize when troubleshooting is needed for processing, embedding, cutting, staining
• Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards
• Champion safety, compliance, and quality control

All you need is:

• BS in biology, chemistry, other sciences
• A Minimum of 2 year of Histology laboratory experience with IHC training
• Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent preferred
• Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms
