Job summary

MSD in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a laboratory professional to support research and product development by executing experiments, performing immunoassay testing, and maintaining equipment in a BSL-2 environment. Weekend work is required.

This role emphasizes protocol adherence, training new staff, and ensuring safety and quality through routine maintenance and qualification testing of instruments.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in scientific field or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Two years' experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably with immunoassays.
• Experience with Biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) is required.

Responsibilities

• Executes immunoassay kit component testing using plate-based assays following established protocols.
• Qualification testing of new immunoassays and pilot scale component testing.
• Sample processing and testing using established and new assays.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment; perform scheduled maintenance and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Train new employees on assay procedures, software, and equipment maintenance.
