Job summary

Prellis Biologics in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Scientist – Cell Biology & Immunology to advance our in vitro immune system platform, including lymph node organoid technologies, and to develop functional assays for antibody discovery.

The role emphasizes hands-on bench work, experimental design, data analysis, and collaboration with colleagues across antibody engineering, protein engineering, and bioinformatics.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or related field.
• 5+ years of lab experience in immunology or cell biology; industry experience preferred.
• Strong background in adaptive immunity, especially B-cell biology.
• Experience with primary immune-cell isolation, culture, and in vitro stimulation.
• Hands-on flow cytometry experience, including panel design and analysis; sorting preferred.
• Experience developing cell-based immune functional assays and ELISA.
• Excellent experimental design, troubleshooting, and data interpretation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a startup environment.
• Strong communication and meticulous documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and optimize complex cell-based experiments to meet research objectives.
• Develop in vitro immune-cell culture and stimulation strategies.
• Spend 60–80% of time performing experiments in the lab and troubleshoot.
• Isolate, culture, expand, and characterize primary human immune cells.
• Design multiparameter flow cytometry panels and analyze datasets.
• Develop and optimize ELISA and protein-based assays for antibody discovery.
• Contribute to antibody discovery and characterization programs with cross-disciplinary teams.
• Maintain thorough records and communicate findings at internal reviews.
