Job description

Immigration Attorney

We are seeking a skilled Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience in Immigration Law. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated legal professional looking to make a significant impact.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year

Duties:

  • Handle and be responsible for a caseload of Affirmative Asylum and EOIR Removal Proceeding cases including but not limited to defensive asylum cases and TVPRA cases.
  • Develop and implement preliminary case strategy after assessing clients background and applying appropriate immigration law and procedure.
  • Identify potential non-asylum relief including USCIS applications.
  • Review and approve any and all petitions, motions and other filings prior to submission with court or other immigration agencies.
  • Draft and file case briefs and motions including but not limited to protected grounds & nexus statements, 1 year deadline briefs and eligibility briefs.
  • Prepare for and conduct Master Hearings, Individual Hearings and other contested hearings in-person and through webex.
  • Ensure all case deadlines are met and cases are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Meet with clients and prepare them for court hearings including declaration and trial preparation.
  • Lead a support team of paralegals and legal assistants, answering legal questions, providing guidance and instructions, and ensuring cases are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provide exceptional client service and ensure satisfaction of the client throughout the duration of the case.

Experience:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar association.
  • 1+ year of experience practicing EOIR preferred but not required.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Bilingual - Spanish speaker preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable handling a fully electronic caseload.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, time management, initiative, problem solving, organization skills and willingness to learn.

Location: This is a full-time remote position; however, attorneys will be expected to conduct in-person meetings, if necessary, and appearances when required by the court in Los Angeles, Orange County, and other surrounding areas.
