Job summary

Blumenthal Arts in Charlotte, NC, seeks an Immersive Specialist to support Blume Studios' VR experiences. This temporary, part-time role runs November through May, averaging 20-30 hours per week, with shifts Wed-Fri 2:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. and Sat-Sun 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.

Ideal candidates will assist with onboarding, guest flow, and ensuring a safe, memorable visit. As a team member, you will operate immersive exhibitions, troubleshoot equipment, and help guests with accessibility needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, with at least 1 year in guest services or related field.
• Experience supporting technology-driven guest experiences preferred.
• Experience in immersive, interactive, or experiential environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate immersive exhibitions and experiences in accordance with procedures and safety standards.
• Welcome and assist guests as they move through the exhibition experience.
• Provide clear instructions and guidance to guests before and during the experience.
• Answer guest questions regarding exhibit content, procedures, accessibility, and policies.
• Monitor exhibit spaces to ensure a safe, enjoyable guest experience.
• Assist guests who require additional support or accommodations.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of immersive technologies, software, hardware, and exhibit equipment.
• Identify and resolve or escalate technical/operational issues quickly.
• Assist with exhibit resets, equipment staging, and readiness between sessions.
• Report malfunctions and safety concerns to the Immersive Lead.
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards in exhibition spaces.
• Follow established procedures and safety/emergency protocols.

Immersive Specialist

Blumental Arts seeks a dynamic team of Immersive Specialists to support Blume Studios' immersive experiences by providing exceptional guest service and ensuring visitors have a smooth, memorable, and safe interaction with VR exhibitions. As a key part of the Blume Studios team, Immersive Specialists lead guests through the exhibition, from onboarding to completion of the immersive experience. This includes assisting with VR onboarding, guest flow, and attending to guest needs throughout the visit.

This temporary, part-time position is expected to run from early November through late May and averages 20-30 hours per week. Anticipated operating hours are Wednesday through Friday, 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. (split into morning and evening shifts). Ideal candidates are available for at least three shifts per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Assist guests who require additional support or accommodations during the experience.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of immersive technologies, software, hardware, and exhibit equipment.
• Quickly identify technical, operational, or guest-related issues and resolve or elevate them as appropriate.
• Assist with exhibit resets, equipment staging, and operational readiness between guest sessions.
• Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and operational issues to the Immersive Lead.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards throughout exhibition spaces.
• Follow all established operating, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Assist with evacuations and emergency response efforts as directed by leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Skills You’ll Bring:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required, supported by at least 1 year of experience in guest services, hospitality, entertainment, retail, customer service, or related field, or a combination of knowledge, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Experience supporting technology-driven guest experiences is preferred.
