Job summary

Grand Valley State University seeks an IT/AV support specialist to maintain and support IT and AV systems across classrooms, labs, simulation centers, and conference spaces. The role involves operating, installing, configuring, repairing, and upgrading equipment to ensure peak performance and rapid issue resolution.

The incumbent will support the Blue Dot initiative, evaluate and pilot XR/VR/AR/MR tools, and provide end-user training.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with a two-year degree in electronics or data communications; equivalent training accepted.
• Minimum of two years' experience repairing computer and peripheral equipment.
• Experience with TCP/IP networking and AV systems.
• Ability to read schematics and develop signal flow diagrams.
• Strong verbal and written communication for customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide desktop and AV support across classrooms, labs, and conference spaces.
• Support Blue Dot project through AV expertise and classroom readiness.
• Deploy and troubleshoot XR/VR hardware and content platforms.
• Supervise student workers and deliver user training for new tech.
• Collaborate with IT teams, faculty, and vendors on tech issues and pilots.
• Maintain inventory, configuration logs, and licensing for AV and XR equipment.
• Partner with PMO on IT/AV projects from design to documentation.
