Job summary

Hardin ISD Transportation in Texas is seeking a full-time Bus Driver to ensure safe and orderly transport of students on assigned routes. The role requires operating a school bus, maintaining schedules, and supervising students during boarding and crossing.

The ideal candidate holds a Texas Class B CDL with P & S endorsement, is at least 18, and can pass alcohol and drug tests, with training in bus safety. You will report incidents, perform pre/post trip inspections, and communicate with staff

Qualifications

• Valid Texas Commercial driver's license (Class B) with P & S endorsement.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Ability to pass alcohol and drug test.
• Ability to complete required bus driver safety training.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to manage student behavior.
• Ability to operate bus.

Responsibilities

• Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules.
• Drive bus to and from extracurricular activities.
• Check bus for defects before and after operation and notify supervisor of needed repairs.
• Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures.
• Keep assigned bus clean and fueled.
• Supervise students while boarding and leaving the bus and crossing the street.
• Communicate with teachers and parents daily regarding student behavior on the bus.
• Maintain discipline and report problems to the administrator.
• Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations.
• Observe traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
• Inspect bus to ensure it can be operated safely before driving.
• Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment.
• Correct unsafe conditions and inform supervisor.
• Report hazardous conditions along the route.
• Work irregular hours as needed.
• Attend and complete required training to maintain safety certification.
• Keeps records on bus mileage, gas and oil consumption, and number of passengers transported.
