Job summary

Uxbridge Public Schools seeks a Long Term Substitute Paraprofessional at Taft Elementary in Uxbridge, MA. Start date is immediate and compensation is on a per-day basis.

This role supports teachers with instruction, assists students, and helps implement IEPs in a classroom setting. Strong teamwork and basic computer skills are essential. CPR/First Aid certification and citizenship/residency/work eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in group settings.
• Ability to read, write, speak, listen, and compute as required.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Computer skills including database, word processing, and spreadsheets.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Current CPR and First Aid Certificates.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Complete instructional tasks under the general supervision of a teacher and non-instructional tasks under the general supervision of the Principal.
• Work directly with students to provide direct support instruction.
• Implements the IEP under the direction of the teacher and/or specialist.
• Communicates to the teacher and the Principal on the work that has been completed.
• Ensures the physical well being of children assigned.
• Work environment is classroom setting, staff work room, and school office.
• Reads to students, corrects student work assignments, makes materials for use in classroom.
• Maintains records as required, completes inventory as directed, answers phones and provides information requested.
