Job summary

Henry County Public Schools is seeking Substitute Teachers and Substitute Paraprofessionals for Martinsville, Virginia. The substitute will support instructional delivery, supervision, and classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of high school diploma.
• Associate’s Degree or 48 college credits or passing ParaPro exam.
• Experience teaching or instructing students in a classroom setting.
• Knowledge of tools and strategies to engage students and maintain behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Sign in on arrival and obtain lesson plans, keys, and badge.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals.
• Maintain established routines and procedures.
• Provide instruction per lesson plans from the classroom teacher.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Protect students, equipment, and facilities with safety measures.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Serve as a professional role model for students.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
