Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 72 college quarter credits from a nationally accredited institution.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Accurate and efficient at completing tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Meet performance expectations as outlined in MLSD #161 Classified Employee Performance Evaluation.
• Always punctual; inform supervisor early about absences to minimize impact on workflow.
• Well-groomed; neat appearance; dress appropriately for the job.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Follow instructions promptly and perform duties with a positive attitude.
• Follow a duty schedule as assigned.
• Follow prescribed behavior plans as assigned.
• Apply district procedures to discipline as needed.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Assist special needs students individually or in small groups according to IEP under supervision of certified staff.
• Build positive relationships with special needs students.
• Encourage positive relationships with peers.
• Willing to receive Non-violent Crisis Intervention training.
• Intervene and manage students using district-approved restraint methods.
• Receive training to understand specific disabilities.
• Supervise special needs students in the classroom.
• Supervise students on arrival and departure.
• Monitor activities for safety and compliance with school rules.
• Provide emergency first aid as necessary; hold/maintain a First Aid card.
• Possess physical ability to perform duties.
• Willing to train in crisis intervention/restraint techniques as determined by staff.
• Assist with medically fragile students.
• Work with students with behavior difficulties.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Apply district discipline procedures as needed.
• Interpret for individuals with multiple language skills when needed.
• Maintain excellent attendance.
• Maintain district email and respond daily.
• Other duties as assigned
