Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 72 college quarter credits from a nationally accredited institution or pass ETS test (required).
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet performance expectations as outlined in MLSD #161 Classified Employee Performance Evaluation.
• Always punctual. If absences are required, informs supervisor early enough so that normal work flow is not interrupted.
• Well groomed and has a neat and clean appearance. Dresses appropriately for job assignment.
• Ability to perform custodial care activities such as lifting and feeding students and helping them with such hygiene needs as toileting and grooming; diapering will be necessary.
• Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
• Promptly and accurately follows specific instructions, and performs duties with a positive attitude.
• Follows a duty schedule as assigned, with flexibility as changes are made.
• Follows prescribed behavior plans as assigned.
• Applies appropriate discipline according to district procedures and behavior plans.
• Works independently and solves problems with minimal supervision.
• Works well with special needs children individually or in small groups to communicate the appropriate learning objectives as outlined in their IEP under supervision of certified staff.
• Builds a positive relationship with all students.
• Encourages special needs students to develop positive relationships with their peers.
