Job summary

ADAPT Community Network is seeking a Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist for the Bronx Children’s Program in New York. This role involves delivering speech and language evaluations and interventions for students as per their Individualized Plans. The ideal candidate holds a Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology and has relevant experience. Compensation includes $47.28 per hour, a $1,500 sign-on bonus, and comprehensive benefits. The position requires availability Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 3 PM.

Job Summary

Under general direction, the Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist in the Bronx Children’s Program is responsible for providing speech and language assessment and therapy of students pursuant to the Individualized Family Service Plan, the Individual Education Plan or Interim Individual Education Plan and participates in the consultative process with parents and team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides speech and language assessment and evaluation to determine student developmental level and needs, and analyzes test results to prepare written summary for Early Intervention, CPSE, CSE, and other regulatory or oversight organization.
• Plans and conducts speech and language interventions in accordance with established goals.
• Implements testing procedures to evaluate and monitor student progress as required by appropriate regulatory agency and provides written report of results to EI/CPSE/CSE.
• Assesses oral motor development and ability to intake food orally, develops a treatment plan appropriate to identified disabilities.
• Keeps abreast of latest alternative communication techniques.
• Implements appropriate utilization of AAC devices.
• Provides in‑service training regarding utilization of AAC devices and techniques.
• Maintains daily and monthly attendance records and progress notes.
• Provides therapy progress reports to parents/guardians and appropriate team members, and meets with parents/guardians regularly in writing or verbally.
• Participates in team meetings and case conferences as required.
• Ensures individuals receive services appropriate to their needs and consistent with educational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Participates in Initial Evaluation and Intake processes.
• Completes all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
• Provides supervision to students and Clinical Fellowship Year candidates as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees, coworkers, consumers, families, other programs, and outside contacts.
• Must maintain strictest confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
• Good organizational and time‑management skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of assistive technology, augmentative communication, picture exchange communication, and manual sign language preferred.
• Ability to use personal computers and electronic devices.
• Ability to provide therapeutic intervention in a school program or home of students served.
• Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective actions.
• Must be available Monday‑Friday, 8 AM‑3 PM.

Education and Experience

• Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
• One year of prior Speech Therapy experience preferred.

License and Certification

• Current NY State license in Speech and Language Pathology.
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency required.
• NYSED Certification as a Teacher of Speech and Hard of Hearing (TSHH) is mandated.
• For bilingual therapist: NYSED TSSH Certification with Bilingual Extension.
• Clinical Fellowship Year candidates will be supervised.

Compensation

$47.28 per hour plus a $1,500 sign‑on bonus and industry‑leading benefits.
