Job summary

PRP Management Services is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to join our Community Engagement Program in Newport News, VA. This part-time role supports individuals with intellectual disabilities by fostering independence, social connections, and meaningful community involvement.

You will assist with community outings, transportation, and skill-building, while documenting progress and collaborating with families and coordinators.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college or relevant training preferred.
• Experience with disabilities or human services is a plus.
• Valid drivers license (3 years) and reliable transportation required.
• Ability to work the day shift Mondaythrough Friday.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support during community outings and activities.

Our Community Engagement Program helps individuals build life skills, connect with others, and enjoy meaningful community experiences. We're looking for compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to help bring that mission to life.

Position Overview

As a DSP in our Community Engagement Program, you'll support individuals in accessing and participating in a variety of community-based activities—such as volunteering, attending events, exploring local attractions, and more. You’ll play a key role in fostering independence, building social connections, and promoting personal growth.

Shift - Looking for a dedicated individual to work 2-4 days a week from 7:30 AM until approximately 4:00/4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support to individuals during community outings and activities
• Assist with transportation to and from events or programs
• Promote independence and self-advocacy through skill-building and mentoring
• Foster inclusive, respectful, and empowering interactions
• Document daily progress, observations, and incidents accurately and timely
• Collaborate with program coordinators, families, and other support staff
• Ensure the health, safety, and dignity of all participants at all times

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some college or relevant training preferred
• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or in a human services role is a plus
• Clean and valid driver's license (3 years) and reliable transportation required
• Ability to work the day shift Monday through Friday
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
