Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Vision is seeking an experienced IMM maintenance engineer to support high-volume injection molding equipment. You will troubleshoot, repair, and optimize IMM machinery, ensure records are accurate, and drive continual improvements across production lines.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of PLCs, servo systems, and automation, with a proven ability to train technicians and lead CAPA-driven fixes. Rotating 12-hour shifts apply, with weekend coverage as needed.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years college in electro-mechanical discipline or equivalent.
  • 4-6 years IMM maintenance or engineering in high-volume injection molding environment.
  • Proficient interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates mastery of troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair for IMM machinery.
  • Record downtime, repairs, audits, and non-conformance events in maintenance system.
  • Be a key contributor in design of experiments, CAPA, protocols and validation projects.
  • Operate and maintain IMM machines; provide training and certification as needed.
  • Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts (6pm–6am or 6am–6pm), including weekends.

Key Responsibilities

Demonstrates mastery of troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair in conjunction with the following areas by meeting qualification standards:

  • Process improvement
  • IMM Knowledge
  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems

  • Robotic /Servo systems
  • Safety Devices
  • Equipment installation
  • Debug and Qualification
  • Control circuitry development
  • Electro-mechanical troubleshooting/repair
  • Equipment prototyping
  • Production start-up
  • IMM equipment process development and mechanical devices and controllers

Provide technical training and certification for IMM Engineering Technicians on the operation and troubleshooting of the IMM machinery and process.

Record all equipment downtime, machine repairs, audits, and non-conformance events in maintenance management system.

Be a key contributor in the design of experiments, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), protocols, validations, and all other projects supporting the business by coordinating or leading improvement.

Demonstrates solid understanding in process improvements by meeting qualification standards in at least 1 of the following areas: Key Process Indicators, Lean Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, Gap Analysis, Prioritization Matrix, Key Process Indicators, etc.

Qualifications
Education

2+ years college in technical discipline (or equivalent), emphasizing electro-mechanical, and IMM training equivalent industrial experience. Proven process knowledge.

Experience and Skills
Required

4-6 years IMM maintenance or engineering experience with high volume Injection Molding environment, preferably continuous operations.

Proficient interpersonal skills, both written and verbal required.

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks are required.

Physical demands of the position include stooping, walking, pulling, light lifting (up to 25 lbs.), grasping, hearing, visual acuity, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, and crawling.

Preferred

Considered an expert in IMM, with strength in the IMM machine as well as carryover (2A) areas. Can train and certify in area of expertise. Is recognized and respected as an expert in identifying IMM equipment reliability issues.

Is considered an expert with IMM knowledge and has good knowledge of the process.

Received Johnson and Johnson electrical safety certification.

Can train, certify, and assist with developmental plans.

Recognized and respected as an expert for identifying and correcting IMM equipment reliability issues.

Coordinates and leads Improvement Projects.

Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Johnson & Johnson Standards of Leadership and has a positive impact on their shift and all other shifts on that line.
