Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Illinois is looking for a full-time Housekeeper II in the Environmental Services department. The role requires maintaining a clean and safe environment for all by performing various cleaning procedures, moving furniture, and collecting waste. Candidates must have a high school diploma, be physically capable of lifting, and possess the ability to work independently.

This position is 100% onsite with night shifts from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., located in the greater Chicagoland area.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift 50 lbs, bend to the floor, and reach above head to perform duties requiring continuous physical effort.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide a clean, safe, attractive environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Perform 10-step general cleaning procedures in all care areas and non-patient care areas.
• Move furniture and take down blinds, curtains, and drapes.
• Wash walls and ceilings and perform floor care tasks.
• Collect general waste and recycling, including biohazardous waste.

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine-Ingalls Memorial Hospital, as a Housekeeper II in the Environmental Services department. UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital has pioneered sophisticated clinical care for nearly a century while developing the area's most convenient network of comprehensive outpatient centers. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities

As a Housekeeper II, you will provide a clean, safe, attractive environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

• Perform 10-step general cleaning procedures in all care areas (Inpatient & Outpatient including ICU, ED, Behavioral Health, Periop) and non-patient care areas.
• Move furniture (including beds).
• Take down blinds, curtains, drapes, cubicles, and rehangs.
• Wash walls and ceilings.
• Complete various projects related to EVS functions and perform other duties assigned.
• Perform floor stripping, refinishing, burnishing, and spray buffing.
• Vacuum carpets and shampoo with carpet equipment.
• Collect general waste and recycling material and transport to pick-up point or compactor/dock for disposal.
• Collect both biohazardous waste and transport to designated pick-up point.
• Operate other floor care equipment and battery-operated machines including riding equipment.
• Work from ladder/scaffolding and extension platforms.
