Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support patient care teams within our Illinois facilities. The role emphasizes direct patient contact, specimen handling, EKGs, and assisting with hygiene and mobility under RN supervision.

Qualified candidates will have a CNA program completion or nursing student clinical experience, and current BLS certification. We offer a supportive environment focused on safety, learning, and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the Illinois CNA Registry is required or nursing student with one clinical rotation.
• BLS from American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, labels and transports specimens as assigned.
• Obtains 12 lead EKGs.
• Discontinues Saline Locks and Indwelling Urinary Catheters.
• Discontinues Telemetry Monitoring packs.
• Performs Bladder Scan.
• Performs Point of Care Testing as appropriate.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene and nutritional needs.
• Performs hourly patient rounding in collaboration with the RN.
• Obtains and documents patient care data as directed by the RN.
• Assists with patient ambulation and positioning.
• Responds to patient call lights promptly and professionally.
