Job summary

Novartis Group of Companies seeks a highly experienced scientist to lead a small team of biologists with advanced imaging expertise in Cambridge, MA. You will drive integration of spatial proteomics and imaging technologies to enable target discovery and validation across disease areas.

The role combines bench science with strategic leadership, shaping imaging, spatial biology, and translational profiling capabilities while collaborating with disease-area researchers and external partners.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biology or related life sciences with 7+ years of postdocs experience in drug discovery.
• Hands-on biology experience with cellular/tissue models and advanced microscopy (confocal, super-resolution).
• Proven leadership in mentoring scientists within a matrixed team.
• Interest in AI-enabled imaging, omics, and multidimensional data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and application of translational biology, imaging, and profiling strategies across drug discovery.
• Design and implement assays and workflows integrating imaging, spatial biology, proteomics, and other technologies.
• Maintain hands-on scientific presence in experimental design, assay development, and data interpretation.
• Generate insights on disease biology, target engagement, and pharmacology to advance translational capabilities.
• Mentor scientists and communicate findings to project teams and senior stakeholders.
