Job summary

South Shore Health System in the Boston area seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform interpretive, patient care and technical duties to insure proper radiologic diagnosis. The role emphasizes patient safety, equipment operation, and adherence to radiation protection standards in a busy radiology department.

Under department supervision, you will confirm patient identity, prepare and position patients, set imaging parameters, and document results.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved two-year program.
• Six months of work experience to be fully proficient.
• RT - Radiography Technology license for MA or Temp MA license.
• Maintain CEU activity on-site as required.

Responsibilities

• Confirm patient identity and assess ability to comply with exam requirements.
• Explain and confirm patient preparation prior to radiographic examinations.
• Review radiographic requisitions for accuracy and completeness.
• Sequence imaging procedures to minimize residual contrast effects.
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and modesty during procedures.
• Operate radiographic and fluoroscopy units, accessories and digital imaging devices.
• Maintain quality of radiographs and document required information.
• Follow radiation protection practices and monitor exposure.
