IMAGING

TECHNOLOGIST LEVEL II

Position Summary

The Level II Radiology Technologist is responsible for performing all diagnostic radiology procedures, including fluoroscopic, portable, C-arm, and limited special procedure examinations, consistent with ALARA and Title 17 recommendations.

In addition, performs at least one of the following modalities: Mammography, Ultrasound, CT Scan, or Nuclear Medicine. This position primarily works with pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Major Responsibilities

Technical Skills

The Level II Technologist must have current knowledge of equipment, techniques, positioning, and film processing to perform safe and diagnostic radiographs for interpretation. Responsible for the timely completion of radiology examinations to meet department and hospital standards, including interacting with patients, physicians, staff, and visitors while providing patient care.

Radiation Safety

The Technologist provides protection for patients and staff in accordance with hospital and state radiation standards and must promptly notify relevant personnel of equipment failures or related issues affecting department operations.

Non-Technical Skills

The Technologist must maintain smooth patient flow, including patient transportation, processing, scheduling, appointment management, and filing.

Leadership Role

Communication

Primary responsibility includes communicating patient-related issues during shift changes and notifying supervisors when supply levels are low to ensure adequate stock.

Professional Behavior

The Technologist must maintain professional behavior with patients and staff at all times, complying with JCAHO standards as determined by MCH Administration.

Additional Requirements for Level II

The position requires mandatory technical skills or licensure in one or more modalities:

  • Mammography: Current CRT and/or ARRT-M
  • Ultrasound: Current CRT and/or ARDMS Eligible
  • CT Scan: Current CRT, with proven technical skills and experience
  • Nuclear Medicine: Current CRT and/or CNM Nuclear Medicine License

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited radiology program
  • ARRT certification preferred
  • Current CRT and Fluoroscopy license for California
  • Current licenses for Ultrasound, Mammography, and Nuclear Medicine; experience and technical knowledge required for CT Scan

Physical Demands

  • Physical: Ability to safely negotiate physical environment
  • Visual: Ability to understand written communications and navigate physical environment safely
  • Hearing: Ability to understand auditory communications

Office environment with normal patient care area conditions, following safety precautions.
