Job summary

Memorial Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking an Imaging Technician to perform diagnostic imaging procedures and deliver high-quality images for radiologist interpretation. The role includes patient education, verifying orders, preparing contrast, and coordinating with radiology staff to ensure accurate documentation and efficient patient flow.

Candidates must hold NM licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, ARRT registration, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• ARRT-registered Radiographer
• BLS certification required or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Perform imaging procedures and produce quality images for radiologist interpretation.
• Verify patient identification, obtain history, explain procedures, educate patients, and address concerns before exams.
• Ensure proper completion of exams including documentation, charging, and labeling of images.
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment; perform preventive maintenance and arrange repairs as needed.
• Prepare and administer contrast per protocols and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Assist radiologists/physicians with procedures and maintain sterile technique.
• Coordinate with radiology and other departments on protocol changes and patient flow.

How you’ll contribute

An Imaging Technician who excels in this role performs imaging procedures and produces quality images for interpretation by a radiologist. Additional responsibilities include:

• Verbalizes and demonstrates knowledge of clinical information and practices essential to assuring provision of age‑specific care to all age groups.
• Verifies patient identification, confirms physician orders, obtains patient history/ forms, assesses patient condition, explains procedures, provides patient education, and addresses patient concerns prior to performing exams.
• Assures proper completion of all exams requested including documentation, charging, and proper labeling of images.
• Properly operates and handles all diagnostic equipment. Maintains equipment and accessories in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance as required and contacts service for repairs when necessary.
• Maintains knowledge of contrast media and medications used within the department including contraindications and possible side effects. Prepares and administers contrast according to departmental protocols and recognizes significant adverse reactions and acts appropriately.
• Prepares and assists radiologists/physicians with procedures as required. Ensures that standard precautions and sterile techniques are utilized.
• Maintains communication and cooperation with radiologist and other ancillary departments regarding changes in protocol, scheduling of procedures, exams performed and patient flow.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should be licensed in New Mexico as a Radiographic Radiologic Technologist. Additional requirements include:

• Registered Radiographer with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Imaging Tech I’s are required to become competent in CT as their additional modality and meet certification requirements within 6 months of employment unless already approved for other modality certifications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
