Job summary

Medtronic CST in Boxborough, MA, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer II to design, integrate and test large electromechanical imaging systems through the product development lifecycle. The role combines hands-on lab work with CAD-driven design, prototyping and verification in a fast-paced environment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support prototypes, testing, and manufacturing readiness, while applying GD&T and creating detailed documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2+ years of experience OR Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 0+ years of experience.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical or electromechanical hardware assembly, testing, troubleshooting, prototyping, or laboratory systems.
• Experience using 3D CAD software and creating or modifying engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical and electromechanical components, assemblies, fixtures, and tooling using CAD software and engineering drawings.
• Support assembly, integration, bring-up, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electromechanical systems and prototypes.
• Develop and execute engineering test protocols, test setups, and verification activities to evaluate system performance.
• Analyze test data, document results, and support root-cause investigations for product and system issues.
• Maintain laboratory systems through setup, configuration, operation, refurbishment, and documentation activities.
• Create and manage engineering documentation, including BOMs, work instructions, engineering changes, and configuration records.
• Apply GD&T principles during design reviews, inspections, and failure analysis activities.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support prototype builds, project milestones, and manufacturing readiness efforts.
