Job summary

The Radiology Technician Assistant at Vanderbilt Health supports radiology technologists by providing upfront patient assistance and prep to improve patient flow and the timeliness of care.

Responsibilities include assisting with MRI screening, patient transport, scheduling communications, and maintaining readiness of equipment and supplies in Zone 3 and 4 areas per ACR and JCAHO requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of relevant work experience in radiology or related setting preferred.
• Ability to assist with upfront patient care and prep for imaging procedures.

Responsibilities

• Accepts and performs patient care duties as assigned by Allied Health Professional.
• Answers phone calls from patients and helps direct patient flow.
• Keeps patients informed of wait times and next steps in their medical processes.
• Receives calls from the floor/ED and provides scheduling information.
• Supports MRI and CT coverage as needed within established safety standards.
• Patient retrieval and transport assistance as required.
• Performs initial MRI/CT screening for metal, allergies and related precautions.
• Preps patients for imaging and assists with patient comfort and safety.
