Job summary

Brown University Health's Imaging Service Coordinator (ISC) supports the imaging department and radiologists with administrative tasks to increase departmental efficiency, accuracy, and safety. This role acts as the liaison between radiologists and ordering providers and ensures STAT outpatient imaging exams are scheduled timely with closed loop communication of findings.

The ISC handles pre-screening, appointment confirmations, IT issue relay, and interdepartmental coordination at Rhode Island

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred; two or more years of admin healthcare experience required
  • Epic experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Track, report, and communicate radiologic findings to ordering providers.
  • Review exams changes due to protocol updates and obtain new orders and prior authorization as needed.
  • Approve add-on imaging studies using predetermined criteria by subspecialty sections.
  • Relay IT issues to the IT team as directed by Radiologists.
  • Support Radiologists with interdepartmental and external communications and document messages.
  • Triage Reading Room calls and route to the correct extension; document messages.
  • Pre-screen and confirm appointments; communicate conflicts/contraindications.
  • Review imaging templates for accuracy.
  • Review modality schedules for conflicts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

The Imaging Service Coordinator (ISC) supports the imaging department and radiologists with administrative tasks to increase departmental efficiency, accuracy, and safety. This position acts as the liaison between radiologists and ordering providers, ensures STAT outpatient imaging exams are scheduled timely without barriers and closed loop communication of actionable findings. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for tracking, reporting, and communicating radiologic findings meeting criteria and recommendations to ordering providers
  • Daily review of exams changed due to protocol updates and obtain new order and prior authorization as needed
  • Responsible for approving add-on imaging studies using predetermined criteria as specified by the respective subspecialty sections
  • Relay technical issues to IT as directed by Radiologists
  • Support Radiologists with interdepartmental and external communication, coordinating dialogue between providers, retrieval of necessary documents for report addendums, and other administrative tasks
  • Triage Reading Room phone calls; transfer calls to the appropriate extension, and document and distribute messages to and from Radiologists
  • Pre-screen and confirm appointments for exams as needed and communicate conflicts/contraindications to the modality lead/manager
  • Review and ensure accuracy of imaging templates
  • Review modality schedules for conflicts
  • Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Associate’s degree preferred

EXPERIENCE: Two or more years of administrative healthcare experience or related required Prior experience with Epic strongly preferred

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

Pay Range

$19.03-$31.39
