Summary

Reporting to the Director of Imaging Operations and Informatics Systems, the Imaging Informatics Systems (IS) Applications Manager serves as a pivotal leader in advancing enterprise‑wide imaging services across Brown University Health. This role drives the strategic integration, optimization, and governance of imaging informatics platforms—including PACS, EMR, VR, and RIS—to ensure seamless clinical workflows, regulatory compliance, and high‑performance outcomes. Leading a multidisciplinary radiology IS team, the Manager orchestrates system‑wide initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, data integrity, and user experience. Through cross‑functional collaboration, this role supports capital planning, financial stewardship, and the execution of innovative solutions that align with organizational goals and elevate the quality of patient care.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop departmental budgets, analyze performance, and coordinate service contracts with vendors.
  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate emerging diagnostic imaging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with organizational needs. Leads system integration, application building, database management, and integration planning and testing.
  • Organizes and manages operational and project‑oriented activities.
  • Responsible for successful delivery of all imaging IS ancillary applications.
  • Leads and manages the imaging IS team, including making hiring decisions, personnel actions and providing professional development.
  • Oversees daily operations and performance of imaging informatics systems.
  • Collaborates with clinical and technical teams to optimize workflows and implement system improvements.
  • Leads training, communication, and change management for system updates and enhancements.
  • Ensures data integrity, reporting accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and user access protocols.
  • Participates in enterprise‑wide initiatives and represents imaging informatics in cross‑functional meetings.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to unite diverse groups and implement action plans.
  • Develops relationships across the organization.
  • Leads data‑driven financial planning and analysis for imaging, leveraging informatics and performance metrics to guide budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, and across the system.
  • Partners with senior leadership to align financial strategies with departmental objectives, optimize resource utilization, and identify opportunities to improve performance and cost efficiency.
  • Must be able to adapt to a fast‑paced environment and adhere to established deadlines.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field required. A combination of computer‑related technical training and successively increasing information systems management responsibility may substitute for a degree.
Experience
  • Four years of progressively responsible related work experience, including people management and project management experience preferably gained in a similarly diverse and operationally complex health care environment.
  • Experience in informatics or radiology operations is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, timelines, and resources effectively.
  • Skills to analyze data, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to lead teams and communicate effectively with radiologists, technical and clinical staff.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Financial acumen with ability to develop and manage departmental budgets and understand the financial impacts of vendor contract management.
Supervisory Responsibility

Direct supervision of up to 8 FTEs. Supervision includes interviewing, hiring decisions, preparing performance evaluations, and recommending personnel action.

Pay Range

$105,019.20 – $173,264.00
