Job description

The Imaging Manager leads a team of geophysicists responsible for delivering high-quality seismic processing and imaging projects — from time processing through depth imaging and velocity model building — on schedule, on budget, and to TGS's technical standards. This role balances hands‑on technical leadership with people management: guiding project execution, developing staff, managing client interactions, and driving continuous improvement in workflows and technology adoption across the team.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Technical Leadership

  • Oversee execution of multiple concurrent seismic processing and imaging projects (multi-client and proprietary), ensuring technical quality, timeline, and budget targets are met
  • Review and approve key project deliverables, QC milestones, and final imaging products
  • Guide teams on advanced imaging workflows, including velocity model building, FWI, RTM, and Kirchhoff/beam migration, and support adoption of new technologies and machine-learning-enabled workflows
  • Coordinate resource allocation and project scheduling across the team, balancing priorities and compute resources
  • Serve as technical escalation point for complex processing and imaging challenges

People Management & Development

  • Directly manage a team of processing/imaging geophysicists, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development
  • Set clear objectives, conduct regular one‑on‑ones, and complete annual performance and compensation reviews
  • Identify skill gaps and build development plans, mentoring, and training opportunities for team members
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive team culture aligned with TGS values

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects: kickoff meetings, progress updates, technical reviews, and final delivery presentations
  • Partner with Sales and Business Development on proposals, bid support, technical scoping, and cost estimation for new projects
  • Collaborate with other Imaging teams, R&D, and IT/HPC groups to align on workflows, software, and compute needs

Operational & Business Management

  • Monitor project financials, forecast resource needs, and report status to Imaging leadership
  • Contribute to departmental planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, HSE standards, and data confidentiality requirements
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Geoscience, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field (Master's or PhD preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in seismic data processing and imaging, with demonstrated expertise in depth imaging and velocity model building
  • 3+ years of experience leading projects and/or supervising technical staff
  • Strong working knowledge of industry-standard processing/imaging software and workflows
  • Proven track record of delivering complex imaging projects to external clients on time and on budget
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience interfacing directly with clients
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Preferred

  • Experience with land, marine (streamer and OBN), and multi-client project environments
  • Familiarity with FWI, least‑squares migration, and machine‑learning applications in seismic processing
  • Experience with HPC/cloud compute environments
  • Prior formal people-management experience, including hiring and performance reviews
  • Experience supporting proposals, bids, and cost estimation
