Job summary

ExxonMobil in Spring, Texas, seeks a seasoned seismic processing professional to join its core seismic processing group. You will deliver imaging solutions for multiple business lines, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design and execute processing projects and ensure uptake.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hands‑on seismic processing in Oil & Gas, with expertise in velocity model building and Full Waveform Inversion, plus programming in Python/Bash within HPC environments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands‑on seismic processing and imaging in Oil & Gas with a proven problem‑solving track record.
  • Strong background in signal processing for seismic data (streamer, OBN, land).
  • Extensive experience in velocity model building, including Full Waveform Inversion and advanced imaging.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Permanent right to work in the USA.

What role you will play in our team

We are looking to hire dynamic, creative, and resourceful candidates for ExxonMobil’s seismic processing core group in Spring, Texas. Candidates will be responsible for delivering seismic imaging solutions to the company business lines on challenging geophysics problems by leveraging state-of-the‑art processing technologies. Candidates will be expected to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand business and technical challenges, develop appropriate seismic imaging solutions, lead and execute the processing projects, and deliver the products while ensuring uptake by the teams.”

What you will do

Responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to and lead all stages of seismic processing including signal processing, velocity model building, depth imaging, and full wavefield inversion.
  • Conduct analysis, recognize issues, support the formulation of new and innovative workflows and methods to resolve problems, and ensure optimal quality of results.
  • Work with a broad range of Geoscientists to devise technical solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Work with research geophysicists and computational scientists to deliver new seismic processing technologies and algorithms.
  • Direct and influence vendor-leveraged processing projects.
About you

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on seismic processing and imaging experience within the Oil and Gas industry, with a proven track record of technical problem‑solving and innovation
  • Strong background in signal processing that may include streamer, Ocean Bottom Node (OBN), and land seismic data.
  • Extensive experience in velocity model building, including Full Waveform Inversion, as well as advanced imaging techniques.
  • Broad technical knowledge enabling effective integration and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Permanent right to work in the USA
  • MS or PhD in Geoscience, Geophysics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline”

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience

  • Hands‑on experience in OBN and land data processing.
  • Experience in processing 4D seismic datasets.
  • Strong knowledge of seismic acquisition techniques and methodologies.
  • Fundamental understanding of quantitative interpretation and geophysical analysis of seismic data.
  • Skilled in working within High Performance Computing (HPC) environments and programming (Python, Bash)
