Brown University Health is seeking a Radiology Support Assistant to help with daily Diagnostic Imaging operations. You will assist radiographers during portable radiographic procedures, prepare patients and rooms, and transport patients and equipment as needed.
The role emphasizes safety, infection control, and compassionate patient care. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, basic English literacy, and at least three months of patient-care experience.
SUMMARY: Under general supervision of Manager Medical Imaging, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, performs a variety of functions to assist in the daily operation of the Diagnostic Imaging division such as transportation of patients requiring radiographic procedures, preparing patient and room for examinations, preparing exposed radiographic images, assisting in maintaining inventory of supplies and cleanliness of work area, pick-up and delivery of supplies for department, assisting the radiographer in portable radiographic procedures, performing related duties such as completing forms, logging in data into computer terminal. All essential functions performed reflect the age-specific needs of the adult and geriatric patient and adapt their care to physical, psychosocial and cultural needs. BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Equivalent to high school diploma. Ability to interact effectively with patients, visitors and hospital staff of all levels. Ability to read and write English and to perform basic arithmetic computations to verify shipments, complete charge information on Radiology requisitions, and perform stock reconciliation. Interpersonal and language skills to exchange information with other hospital personnel, patients, visitors and vendors. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three months’ experience, preferably in a patient-care setting. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physicians’ offices and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Works with medical and office equipment; has direct patient contact. Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing.
