This role verifies patient insurance, handles authorization and verification tasks, and supports front desk and billing processes to ensure smooth patient flow through imaging services.

The position requires high school diploma, CPR within 60 days, and experience with healthcare scheduling and insurance.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance and benefits for accuracy and eligibility.
• Call primary and secondary insurers for verification of benefits, deductibles, and copays.
• Notify front desk staff of non-reimbursable benefits and insurance issues.
• Handle telephone backup and transfer calls as needed.
• Assist patients through services and ensure documentation is complete.
• Collect copayments and payments; maintain accurate accounts and daily logs as needed.
• Enter information accurately into the admitting/registration system.
• Prepare preregistration packets for all patients and update medical records for return visits.
• Assist with closing procedures and end-of-day tasks.

Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a detail oriented; customer service focused Imaging Coordinator II - Authorization & Verification Specialist to join our Imaging Team!

The Imaging Coordinator -Authorization & Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance. This position is responsible for assuring that clerical duties are accurately performed in completion of, but not limited to, the following areas: calling all primary and secondary insurance for verification of benefits for deductibles; in and out of network benefits including copays; notifying front desk and necessary staff members of non-reimbursable benefits; telephone backup and transferring of all calls; smooth transitioning of patients through the services they require; ensure that copies of appropriate documentation are obtained to facilitate the billing and collections process; ensure that co-payments and payments on patients accounts are taken, accounted for and processed accurately; backup for completing a daily log of patient payments collected as needed; ensure that all information entered into the automated admitting/registration system is accurate and complete; prepare preregistration packets for all patients; update medical records for return patients as needed; help with closing procedures. Works under stress and is able to work under pressure and in situations that demand patience, tact, stamina and endurance.
