Job summary

Summa Health is seeking a patient transporter for the Akron City campus - Cat Scan. You will move patients to and from radiology, assist staff, and follow handheld transport directions to ensure timely testing.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to read/write English, basic computer skills, and healthcare-related experience preferred. Strong communication and time-management abilities are essential.

Summary

Responsible for transporting patients to and from the radiology areas. Assists medical and technical staff in routine daily activities. Follow patient transport directions on a handheld device that is assigned and used during the shift. Takes direction from staff members to ensure patients receive their testing in a timely manner.

Formal Education Required

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.

Experience & Training Required

• Healthcare related experience preferred.

• Ability to effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, physicians, and hospital employees.
• Proven ability to read and write English and follow written instructions.
• Must be able to use computer systems and basic Window applications, including proficiency with a mouse and bar code reader.
• Ability to calmly handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
• Recognizes emergency situations.
• Excellent time-management skills.
• Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
• Ability to proficiently operate a handheld device (e.g. iPhone, cell phone, tablet etc.).

• Possess computer skills to complete mandatory training.

Level Of Physical Demands

• Exerts 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
• Ability to lift and position patients, push, and pull heavy carts and to stand and walk for an entire shift.
• Ability to lift and transport patients and equipment from a stationary position.
• Possible exposure to hazardous materials
