Job summary

Froedtert Health in Mequon, WI is seeking an Imaging Assistant Senior to support Imaging Services under the supervision of a Registered Technologist. This on-site role involves patient-centered care, clerical duties, and assisting technologists during imaging studies.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, IV placement, venipuncture, EMR documentation, and IV management. Requires one year of clinical experience and BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

  • One year of clinical or hospital patient care experience required.
  • Venipuncture and IV placement experience preferred.
  • Internal IV placement training within 90 days of hire.
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

  • Provide patient-centered care across Imaging Services.
  • Perform clerical duties: reception, registration, insurance verification, EMR documentation.
  • Prepare patients for studies and transport as needed.
  • Assist technologists with imaging studies.
  • Place, flush, and remove IVs; assist with labs.

Job Summary:

The Imaging Assistant Senior (IA Sr), under the direction and supervision of a Registered Technologist, provides patient centered care across all areas of Imaging Services. Clerical duties may include but are not limited to: reception, way finding, registration, insurance verification, documentation in EMR, utilization of proper phone etiquette. Patient care duties may include but are not limited to: detailed/clear communication by phone and in person to prepare patients for studies, monitoring inpatients and assisting them with basic needs, monitoring patients, transporting patients to and from the imaging department and assisting technologists with performing imaging studies. Responsible for placing, flushing, and removing IVs, running labs.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

One year experience in a clinical or hospital setting with direct patient care is required. Experience in venipuncture techniques preferred.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

High School diploma or equivalent is required. Internal education on IV placement is required within 90 days of hire. Associate degree in a healthcare or medical‑related field preferred.

TRAINING DESCRIPTION:

Meets all Imaging Assistant requirements. Training in IV placement with EMR documentation and proven competency is required within 90 days of hire. Nursing Observation rotation also required.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when performing care, resolving patient care problems and dealing with patients and families. Ability to use general medical support equipment, including patient lifting devices; understand and follow instructions, as well as give clear directions to patients and others in need of assistance and guidance; good listening skills. Ability to use standard office equipment including computers, fax, copy, document scanners, and tube stations. Knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
