Job summary

East Hawaii Region of Hawai`i Health Systems Corporation is seeking an entry- and full-performance level imaging support role to assist licensed professionals in patient preparation, transport, and imaging-related duties.

You will help maintain clean exam areas, manage supplies, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient care in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year experience in a biological, chemical, or medical laboratory, clinic, or healthcare setting that provided knowledge of anatomy, clinical procedures, or patient care. Education or nursing coursework may substitute for experience.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required within 6 months of employment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, follow verbal and written instructions, provide compassionate patient care, and work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for imaging procedures by verifying identity, explaining exams, assisting with changing, and ensuring readiness for testing.
• Safely transport patients and assist with positioning, transfers, and movement of medical equipment during imaging.
• Support technologists by preparing exam rooms, cleaning equipment, stocking supplies, and assisting with room turnover.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality standards.
• Monitor inventory, restock supplies, process purchase orders, and assist with basic clerical duties and specimen transport.
• Provide courteous, patient-centered service while working with technologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Entry Level

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One (1) year of experience in a biological, chemical, or medical laboratory, clinic, or healthcare setting that provided knowledge of anatomy, clinical procedures, or patient care. Qualifying education or nursing coursework may substitute for experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification is required within six (6) months of employment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, follow verbal and written instructions, provide compassionate patient care, and work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Full Performance

In addition to the entry-level qualifications:

• One (1) year of experience in a hospital or similar healthcare facility assisting licensed imaging technologists with patient preparation, transport, positioning, and other imaging support duties.
• Working knowledge of one or more imaging modalities, including radiography, CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, angiography, or echocardiography.
• Demonstrated ability to independently prepare patients for imaging procedures, assist technologists during examinations, maintain imaging work areas, prioritize patient flow, and provide safe, efficient support in a fast-paced clinical environment.

* Rates listed for paid holidays, vacation and sick days are for 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
