Job summary

Hilo Benioff Medical Center is seeking a skilled Imaging Specialist II to perform diagnostic radiologic examinations using advanced imaging equipment while ensuring high-quality patient care, safety, and regulatory compliance. The role collaborates with physicians, nurses, and staff to deliver timely imaging services for patients across the lifespan.

The position supports rotating shifts and requires ARRT Radiography certification, Hawaii licensure, and BLS within six months.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), or an equivalent combination of education and qualifying experience.
  • Six (6) months of progressively responsible professional imaging technologist experience demonstrating knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures and techniques.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Radiography [ARRT(R)].
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six (6) months of employment.
  • Current State of Hawaii Radiologic Technologist License as a Radiographer.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations and specialized imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders, department protocols, and quality standards.
  • Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, administer contrast media as required, and ensure patients understand examination processes.
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment, monitor image quality, and ensure timely transfer of images through PACS and electronic medical record systems.
  • Assist physicians and clinical staff with specialized procedures while adhering to infection control, radiation safety, and patient safety guidelines.
  • Collect and document pertinent clinical information, obtain informed consent when required, and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, continuing education, and cross‑training opportunities to support departmental operations and patient care excellence.

Hilo Benioff Medical Center is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Imaging Specialist II to join our Imaging Services team. This position performs diagnostic radiologic examinations using advanced imaging equipment while ensuring high-quality patient care, safety, and compliance with departmental and regulatory standards. The Imaging Specialist II works closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and accurate diagnostic imaging services for patients across the lifespan.

Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Experience

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, standby, and callback assignments as needed.

* Rates listed for paid holidays, vacation and sick days are for 1.0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE.

Pre-Employment Health Requirements

Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
