Job summary

Daifuku North America is hiring a Fabricator to operate fabrication and machine shop equipment for producing structural steel components used in industrial automation. The role requires reading blueprints, tape measures, and accurate measurement to meet specifications.

Typical duties include setting up machines, reading job specs, and inspecting parts for quality while following Daifuku’s QMS policies. This is a full-time, on-site 3rd shift position offering comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints and interpret specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate fabrication and machine shop equipment to form metal parts.
• Read specifications/blueprints to determine material needs.
• Set up stops/guides to specified lengths and align layouts.
• Measure dimensions and inspect for accuracy during operation.
• Identify defects and report machine issues.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning.
• Comply with Daifuku QMS policies and continuous improvement.
• Work that contributes to safe, high-quality outputs.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Fabricator operates fabricating machines to create structural steel products used in industrial automation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Operating fabrication shop and machine shop machinery and equipment, such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punches, to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures
• Reading job specifications and blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
• Setting stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template
• Positioning workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade
• Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
• Detects workpiece defects and machine malfunctions
• Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, and scale from workpiece
• Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, die, or workpieces
• Employees are responsible for complying with all requirements of Daifuku’s QMS policies and procedures.
• Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

• Ability to read blueprints
• Knowledge of standard and metric measurements
• Knowledge of quality assurance and self-inspection techniques
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented
• Team orientation
• LOTO certification required
• Crane operation certification required
• Forklift operation experience preferred but not required
• Availability to work on Saturdays as needed
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

ADA Requirements:

• Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
• Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
• Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
• Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
• Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
• Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
• Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
• Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
• Visual: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
