Job summary

Daifuku Intralogistics America Corporation in Hobart, IN, is seeking a 2nd Shift Structural Fabricator to operate fabrication machinery and produce structural steel components for industrial automation. Full time role, Monday–Friday 1:00pm–9:30pm, with opportunities for career development and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate fabrication shop and machine shop machinery to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures.
• Read job specifications and blueprints to determine adjustments and material requirements.
• Set stops or guides to specified length and align layouts with templates.
• Identify defects and perform minor maintenance on machines.
• Adhere to Daifuku QMS policies and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Position Summary: The Fabricator operates fabricating machines to create structural steel products used in industrial automation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Operating fabrication shop and machine shop machinery and equipment, such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punches, to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures
• Reading job specifications and blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
• Setting stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template
• Positioning workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade
• Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
• Detects workpiece defects and machine malfunctions
• Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, and scale from workpiece
• Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, die, or workpieces
• Employees are responsible for complying with all requirements of Daifuku's QMS policies and procedures.
• Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum 1 year of related experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements

• Ability to read blueprints
• Knowledge of standard and metric measurements
• Knowledge of quality assurance and self-inspection techniques
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented
• Team orientation
• LOTO certification required
• Crane operation certification required
• Forklift operation experience preferred but not required
• Availability to work on Saturdays as needed
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

ADA Requirements

• Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
• Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
• Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
• Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
• Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
• Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
• Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
• Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
• Visual: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
