Inland Kenworth is seeking an ILR Service Technician / Diesel Mechanic to service and repair Class 8 trucks in Carson, CA. The role requires 3+ years of hands-on diesel experience, with preferred dealership background and relevant certifications.

Monday–Friday shift with a competitive hourly pay and premiums for eligible employees. The position offers opportunities to work in a leading heavy-duty truck service environment, emphasizing safety, teamwork, and continuous training.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Class 8 technician, preferably in a dealership or related truck facility.
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills across diesel engines, electrical systems, and drivetrain components.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Performs work as outlined on repair order in line with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnoses faults and repairs diesel trucks to factory specifications.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Assesses vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
• Documents work performed and recommendations on repair orders.
• Road tests vehicles when required.
• Adheres to Health & Safety Manual and keeps the shop clean and organized.

The pay range for Service Technicians is $25.83 - $46.96 per hour, based on experience. Premiums are available for those who are eligible. The schedule isMonday-Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Service Technicians will be responsible for repairing and maintaining diesel engine industrial trucks according to dealership and factory specifications. If you are passionate about the work that you do, enjoy working with your hands and have 3 + years of experience as a technician working on Class 8 trucks in a dealership or other truck repair facility, then we want to hear from you!

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards including engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, colling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-up and preventative maintenance
• Analyzes customers’ truck performance complaints, diagnoses cause of any malfunctions and performs repair.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Documenting all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Road test vehicles when required.
• Becomes familiar with and complies with the company’s Health & Safety Manual.
• Keeps shop area neat and clean after each repair. Returns all common tools that were used in the repair to their designated storage place.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, occupational health & safety regulations, etc.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

• 3+ years’ experience as a Class 8 technician, preferable in a dealership or related truck facility
• Valid Driver’s License, CDL is a plus
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required
• Basic computer skills and experience
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, must be able to walk around shop floor and exterior yard area (long periods standing / walking), requires mobility to easily access and egress trucks and equipment
• Regular, full attendance is an essential function of the job
