Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Joliet, IL seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility and ensure donor safety during plasma collection.

The role reports to the Center Manager and involves coordinating with physicians, handling adverse events, and following regulatory guidelines. Requires an active Illinois LPN/LVN license, CPR/AED, and clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Active LPN license in Illinois.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
• FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and Center Physician orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues, including donor safety.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents with EHS guidance; assist in investigations when needed.
• Potentially act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and Medical Affairs.
