Job summary

Solucient Security in Illinois (Northbrook) is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Installation & Service Technician to manage installation, testing, inspection and service of life-safety systems. You will read plans, troubleshoot issues, and ensure work meets NFPA standards while collaborating with a team and client.

The role requires NICET certification, hands-on experience, and a valid driver's license. You will work in a field-based, full-time capacity with focus on safety and quality

Qualifications

• NICET 1 or 2 certification in Fire Alarm Systems is required at time of hire.
• Hands-on commercial fire alarm installation and service experience.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and fire alarm codes.
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications, wiring diagrams, and documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Maintain required licenses, certifications, and continuing education.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Fire Alarm Installation & Service Technician who takes pride in doing things right, understands the responsibility that comes with life-safety systems, and wants to be part of a team committed to technical excellence and an exceptional client experience.

This is a full-time, field-based position within our Install and Service Operations team.

What You'll Do

As a Fire Alarm Installation & Service Technician, you will take ownership of fire alarm systems from installation and programming through testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and service.

You will:

• Install, program, inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial fire alarm and life-safety systems and support other electronic security installation and service work in other low-voltage security solutions when needed.
• Perform commissioning, system verification, and required inspections.
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Diagnose system issues, identify root causes, and determine appropriate corrective action.
• Perform work in accordance with applicable codes, NFPA standards, manufacturer specifications, AHJ requirements, and Solucient standards.
• Accurately document work performed, testing results, deficiencies, programming changes, and materials.
• Communicate proactively with clients and teammates about progress, issues, and next steps.
• Train clients on system operation and provide professional technical support.
• Maintain Company tools, equipment, vehicles, and other resources.

What We're Looking For

NICET 1 or 2 certification in Fire Alarm Systems is required at time of hire.

• Working knowledge of applicable fire alarm codes and standards, including NFPA 72.

Physical & Work Requirements

This is an active field position. Technicians must be able to perform commercial installation and service work that may include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing ladders, working from lifts or at heights, working above ceilings, using hand and power tools, and lifting or moving equipment and materials.

Technicians travel between client locations and work in a variety of commercial, construction, and mechanical environments.

Schedule

Full-Time | Non-Exempt

Standard schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Schedule flexibility, overtime, some overnight travel, and participation in the on-call rotation are required based on client and business needs.
