Job summary

The CIA Office of Inspector General is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as Associate Counsel to the Audit, Inspections, and Investigations Staffs of OIG and as an advisor to OIG leadership in Washington, DC.

The position requires active bar admission, at least four years of legal practice, excellent research and writing, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate to resolve complex legal and policy issues while meeting CIA eligibility requirements.

Qualifications

• Active Bar admission in a U.S. state or DC, Puerto Rico, or USVI.
• Minimum of 4 years of legal practice.
• Excellent research and writing abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to meet CIA eligibility including U.S. citizenship and background investigation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active membership in the Bar of one of the fifty states or the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience practicing law.
• Demonstrated excellence in research and writing.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with others to achieve effective and proactive resolution of legal and policy issues.
• Ability to meet the minimum requirements for joining CIA, including U.S. citizenship and a background investigation.

Desired Qualifications

• A broad understanding of the Intelligence Community and the role and responsibilities of Inspectors General
• Experience or knowledge in some of the following areas of law:
  • Administrative law
  • Government contracts
  • Appropriations law
  • Federal criminal law and procedure
  • National security litigation
  • Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
  • Privacy Act
  • Whistleblower law
  • Ethics law
• Knowledge of Federal criminal law and procedure and its application in a classified environment.
• Prior legal experience in a federal Inspector General's Office.
• Prior experience in the Intelligence Community.
