Job summary

The NYS Office of Information Technology Services is seeking an IES App Dev Lead to develop critical applications for the Integrated Eligibility System. You will build data governance tools, migrate mainframe data, and train staff while ensuring smooth operations across Albany or NYC sites.

Ideal candidates will have extensive Java/Spring Boot experience, PostgreSQL skills, and a background in State Government projects, with a track record of leading development and modernization efforts within

Qualifications

  • Six (6) years of experience in broad expansive Application Development with 1 year of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field may substitute for two years of experience as described
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field may substitute for an additional year of experience.
  • Experience writing code with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Knowledge of moving apps off old mainframe computers.
  • Skill in using PostgreSQL databases.
  • Ability to teach and train staff.
  • Experience working in State Government

Responsibilities

  • Keep It Smooth: Make sure users see no changes or downtime while updates happen.

ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.

Under the direction of a senior IES manager, the IES App Dev Lead will be assigned to the Integrated Eligibility System (IES) within the Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) and will develop critical applications to modernize state systems, including building and maintaining a data governance app, training staff, and executing a mainframe migration to PostgreSQL to improve system performance seamlessly.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To The Following
  • Build Apps: Create and maintain a new data governance app using Spring Boot, as well as other apps that will assist the IES Data Management and Migration Services.
  • Train Users: Teach staff members how to use the new apps and systems.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis.
