Job summary

Nscale seeks a Director of Identity to lead the engineering function for authentication, authorization, and workload identity across the platform. You will own end-to-end security, set direction, hire and grow a high-performing team, and ship secure patterns as the default.

You will drive architectural decisions across products, infrastructure, and security, ensuring reliable sign-in, auditable access control, and scalable guardrails for humans, agents, and workloads.

Qualifications

• Senior technical leadership with staff+ experience.
• Experience hiring, leading and developing engineering teams.
• Deep experience with authentication/authorization systems (OAuth 2.0/OIDC, RBAC/ABAC).
• Experience designing and operating scalable cloud systems (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Ability to manage high-stakes, critical-path systems with incremental delivery.
• Strong communication and ability to influence multiple partner teams.
• Proven ability to translate vague goals into practical deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end identity experience and security posture.
• Set multi-year Identity strategy and delivery approach; manage budget and headcount.
• Establish standards for identity usage across services and products.
• Make security-by-default the default through strong primitives and guardrails.
• Ensure reliability, latency discipline, and safe incremental releases.
• Represent Identity in architecture and roadmap discussions with cross-functional teams.
• Stay informed on industry shifts and translate them into platform improvements.
• Define and track KPIs like auth success rate, latency, and auditability.
