Job summary

The Ohio State University’s Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a Veterinary Care Assistant 2 for the Large Animal ICU team. You will help provide compassionate care to ill/injured animals and support clinicians, staff, and students in daily operations.

Responsibilities include basic patient care, specimen collection, animal restraint, and assisting with training of student employees. Schedule is 40 hours per week with a third shift, and a background check is required after offer.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care functions for ill/injured animals.
• Assist in lab specimen collection (blood, urine, feces) for testing.
• Assist with patient assessment, restraint, and treatments.
• Train student employees in prescribed animal care procedures.
• Care for hospitalized patients: feeding, housing, water, and sanitation.
• Monitor patients and notify veterinarians of changes or concerns.
• Transport patients within the Veterinary Medical Center.
• Stock supplies including feed, medical supplies, and equipment.
